HaflonTMseries Halogen-free flame retardants
Zinc diethyl phosphinate (ZDP)
Halogen-free flame retardants used in Polyester Fiber and PET
Product Features
ZDP is a new efficient halogen-free flame retardant based on organic phosphinates, called zinc diethyl phosphinate. The product is white powder, slightly soluble in water and common organic solvents, nonhygroscopic.
The product has characteristics of high phosphorus content, halogen-free, good compatibility with the polymer.Particularly, it can melt in the polyester systems, little effect on the physical and mechanical properties of polyester, has good processing fluidity.
Specification and Technical Data

Applications
Applications fields
ZDP is suited as halogen-free flame retardant for polyester fibers and PET film system, Especially for PET fiber fabric and the PET film system. It has a good compatibility with the matrix resin.
ZDP is a halogen-free flame retardant used in thermoplastics and synthetic fibers.Having a significant flame retardant effect, especially in polyester system.Applied to the PET, the added amount of ZDP is about 5 to 10%, when added 5%, the limiting oxygen index (LOI) of retardant materials can reach more than 30%.Applied to PBT, 10 to 15% of ZDP mix with 10 to 15% of the nitrogen-based flame retardant such as melamine polyphosphate (MPP), melamine cyanurate (MCA), can make the materials reach UL94V-0 grade (1.6 and 0.8mm thickness). In PET, a small amount of flame retardant can be achieved UL94V-0 grade.
According to the degree of polymerization of the polymeric material, processing conditions and addition amount of the glass fibers, the amount of flame retardant can be different. ZDP should be melted at a temperature above 200 ℃, and then melt blended with the molten polyester.
